Volunteer Centre Sandwell Celebrates National Volunteer’s Week 2014

2014 marks the 30th anniversary of Volunteer’s Week and plans are taking shape to ensure Sandwell Volunteers are firmly on the map!

On Wednesday 4th June, Volunteer Centre Sandwell in partnership with Sandwell Libraries & Information Service will be recruiting volunteers to support libraries in Blackheath, Brandhall, Cradley Heath and Oakham. These libraries have been working with the Volunteer Centre since the beginning of the year, hosting Recruitment Volunteer Drop in Sessions.

The recruitment drive will be held on Wednesday 4th June at Blackheath Library 145 High Street Blackheath B65 0EA 0121 559 1884 from 10am till 2pm.

By engaging volunteers from all backgrounds libraries can help combat social exclusion and encourage community participation and involvement. By involving volunteers, the Library service hopes to add further value, support, and diversity to the work of existing staff.

Jean Taylor CEO Volunteer Centre said “We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable volunteers to join our local libraries and propel the service forward. Volunteers make a real difference to local people who rely on and choose to use their services.”

Typical volunteering roles range from organising and running children’s activities, IT helpers, Film & Gaming clubs, and much more.
