We are looking for staff as usual to help with election duties this May.
This includes polling day duties – Poll Clerks and Presiding Officers and counting duties on polling day – Thursday 22 May 2014 (just before the Spring Bank holiday) and Sunday 25 May, evening count.
This year it will be a combined poll as our local elections will be held with the European Parliamentary elections.
Thursday night will be the locals count and the European ballot paper verification. We cannot legally count the European ballot papers in to the parties until the Sunday 25 May evening so we shall be looking for more counters this night too!
We shall have some 160 polling stations throughout the whole of the Borough – each requiring a Presiding Officer and at least one Poll Clerk.
The fees for the respective duties for the both the Borough and European Parliamentary Elections have not yet been finalised, however the fee is likely to be in the region of:
- £240 gross for a Presiding Officer and
- £150 gross for a Poll Clerk.
Count staff fees are locally determined, but for a Counting Assistant this is likely to be in the region of:
- £40 gross for the Thursday and
- £30 gross for the Sunday.
Chief Counters and Assistant Chief Counters will attract a higher fee – to be confirmed on appointment.
Fees for postal vote opening and runners are to be determined.
Fees will be confirmed with your appointment.
All appointments will be made by early April. If you have not been initially successful we still may call on you as vacancies arise as staff drop out.
